Those who tear down statues like Columbus are missing their own history

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Leftists are trying to rewrite history by tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus and others because these were bad people in American history.

Columbus never made it here. The closest he got was the Bahamas. That was around 1500. The U.S. was started in 1776.

The Vikings got here over 500 years before Columbus bumped around the Caribbean. So put up some statues of Vikings and then tear them down.

In the meantime, these rioters should know most of the other statues, the Confederate ones, are of their great-great-great grandfathers — you know, other Democrats.
