Those opposed to Dunkin’ Donuts ‘should just relax and deal with it’

To the editor:

When I first read the comments by two of your readers regarding the congestion that a new Dunkin’ Donuts would bring on Telegraph Road, my first reaction was to agree with them.

But then I thought about it, and I would like to point out a couple of things.

There are a lot of people who use Telegraph Road to gain access to the highway in the morning on their way to work. You are either the kind of person who stops for doughnuts and coffee in the morning or not. Those who stop each morning now and cause the congestion that the other two readers don’t like will just transfer their business from the 7-11 — located in the same lot as the proposed Dunkin’ Donuts — or from one of the many gas stations along Telegraph Road.

Those who don’t do coffee and doughnuts on their way to work will not give Dunkin’ Donuts a second glance.

If there is initially more congestion getting out of that particular strip mall, it will surely die down when people become late for work while waiting to enter Telegraph Road and decide the sugar fix is not worth it.

My guess is that it will not cause a big problem. So your readers should just relax and deal with it. Dunkin’ Donuts is seeing dollar signs and will probably not back off any time soon.
