Sunset Hills residents will see a QuikTrip in their neighborhood in the coming days, following the unanimous approval of the convenience store by the Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen on May 13. 

The 16-pump gas station will be located at 10200 Rahning Road along Highway 30, joining 138 QT locations in Missouri. The tract of land is a mostly forested area, directly west and downhill of the Sunset Pointe subdivision. 

Four bills were passed at the board’s May 13 meeting in relation to the property, including a rezoning, planned development permits and a right-of-way dedication on Rahning Road. Three of these bills passed unanimously without discussion, though Ward 2 Alderman Casey Wong raised concerns about Bill 116, the planned development permits. The lighting plan in the bill was amended as a requirement, ensuring the lights at QT would be constructed as written, so as not to shine into nearby homes. 

Last month, city administrator Brittany Gillett said about the project, “Overall, I would say there’s been a positive vibe from the community so far.”
