The cities of Sunset Hills and Crestwood are introducing the SunCrest Fest this year, a joint festival celebrating both cities.
The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at Kitun Park at 12343 Eddie and Park Road next to Truman Middle School in Sunset Hills.
It will be an old-school carnival with festival activities designed for all ages.
The fun starts with a parade and car cruise at 10:30 a.m.
New Lindbergh Schools Superintendent Tony Lake will be appearing in the parade along with the Board of Education of the school district, which is shared by both cities.
Scouts from the district and the Junior Flyerettes will also appear at SunCrest Fest.
“I love the fact that it’s the two cities, that’s cool,” Lake said of the weekend festivities.
“The more things we can do as a whole Lindbergh community, we’re better off, and it’s better for our kids and patrons and people. So it’s fun. It’s going to be exciting.”
Activities include professional carnival rides with two large attractions, classic carnival games and grass roots games hosted by local Boy Scout troops, live music, more than 24 food booths, children’s activities and more.
The festival is free, but there are fees for rides, food and games.
The Boards of Aldermen, park boards and Sunset Hills Mayor Pat Fribis are excited about bringing this fun-filled collaborative carnival to life.
The cities hope to continue the tradition for years to come, according to a news release.
“We have learned working together and sharing ideas can only benefit our communities, and two heads are better than one,” Fribis said in the release.
“By partnering with Crestwood for the SunCrest Fest, we will deliver a quality experience to all who attend.”
