Applications for St. Louis County’s senior property tax freeze will open Oct. 1.
The Department of Revenue will open the online application Tuesday. It will remain open until June 30, 2025.
Residents who need assistance completing an application can visit one of four locations, where county employees will be available to help Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• South County – 4546 Lemay Ferry Road, 63129
• Clayton Administration Building – 41 S. Central Ave., Clayton, 63105
• Northwest Crossing – 715 Northwest Plaza Drive, St. Ann, 63074
• West County – 74 Clarkson Wilson Center, Chesterfield, 63017
To make the application process easier, residents are encouraged to have all necessary application documents ready ahead of time, including a property deed, which is required for application.
Starting Tuesday, residents who purchased homes in 1973 or later can visit one of the four county buildings to get a copy of their deed. Deeds can also be downloaded through the county’s online vendor.
Residents who bought their home in 1972 or before will need to visit the Clayton Government Building sometime between Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to obtain a copy of their deed. Residents can make an appointment through the county’s website.
Mailed or dropped-off paper documents will not be accepted during the application period. Only one member of a household needs to submit an application for the tax-freeze.
“We look forward to rolling out the application on Oct. 1. While we know our seniors are anxious to apply, they have nine months – until June 30, 2025 – to do so. So, there is plenty of time,” County Executive Sam Page stated in a press release.
