Following the Sunset Hills Dec. 9 Board of Aldermen meeting, the 30 mph speed limit on both Denny Road and South Geyer Road between Lindbergh Boulevard and state Route 30 (Gravois Road) has officially been lowered to 25 mph.
This decision came after residents of the area, primarily living on Denny Road, brought to the board’s attention the reckless, unsafe driving that often occurs. One resident in particular, Kari Willett, was an especially fierce advocate and even created a successful citizen petition calling for a double fine zone on Denny after a speed study conducted by the city showed how fast some were traveling. This petition led to the consideration and eventual passage of Denny becoming a double fine zone, which was also approved by the board on Dec. 9. The double fine zone will only impact Denny, not South Geyer, as the petition was signed by specifically Denny residents.
Despite passage, implementation of the double fine zone will be delayed for 90 days to ensure the community is aware of the change.
