Monday was the first snow of the season, and today will be the first snow day for area students.

The Mehlville School District, Lindbergh Schools, Affton School District, Bayless Schools, Hancock Place School District and Special School District all canceled classes Tuesday due to icy road conditions, after a larger-than-expected snowfall Monday.

Mehlville is canceling all after-school activities and events for the day.

Lindbergh is calling off all before-school activities, school-age Flyers Club, Lindbergh Early Childhood Education and Lindbergh Community Ed and Rec activities.

The district asks parents to please continue to check its website, mobile app and social media throughout the day for more information.

The Lindbergh High boys soccer team’s sectional game versus Northwest was postponed because the Northwest field is covered in snow. It will be played at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Northwest.

The Lindbergh Board of Education will still meet Tuesday night and has not canceled its meeting.

Affton is also canceling all before and after-school activities, along with Cougar Care. Students are urged to post what they’re doing with their day with the hashtag #AfftonSnowDay.

“The weather conditions present potential travel safety concerns for our students and staff.  This closure includes all school related activities, including practices, games, and meetings,” Bayless Superintendent Ronald Tucker wrote to the community. “Should weather conditions warrant further closures or schedule changes, you will be the first to be notified on the E-News system and social media.”

Special School District said all SSD schools, sites and programs will be closed. SSD’s Central Office, Learning Center and Distribution Center will also be closed.

The district announced that a decision will be made later today about this evening’s scheduled Board of Education meeting.
