To the editor:
I am deeply concerned about a single candidate on the ballot for the Mehlville Fire Protection District.
This offers the voters no choice in the election except for write-in candidates.
Unfortunately, the candidate on the ballot is strongly supported to the point of cloning by current board members (Bonnie) Stegman and (Aaron) Hilmer. It is very important to have diversity of opinion on a public board. This allows a fresh viewpoint and opportunity to ask questions and consensus building for the public good.
I plan to vote for write-in candidate Dennis Skelton and encourage other voters to demand the opportunity to have representation that reflects the concerns for the public safety over political opportunism for the entire community.
