Reader: Parochial schools ‘foster strong moral ethic for community’

Letters+to+the+editor

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

I am intrigued by the idea some espouse that public schools are in everyone’s best interest and alternatives should be avoided.

Public schools are funded by all taxpayers, regardless of where children attend school.

Let’s get serious. The threat as seen by public-schools-only advocates comes from religion-based operated schools, particularly parochial schools.

Parochial schools have proven to operate at a lower cost, yet provide certainly an equal if not better level of education.

They foster a strong moral ethic for their fellow students and their community.

The idea that they are a community of elites could not be further from the truth.

If you don’t believe this, then please attend an open house at a local parochial school and see for yourself.
