To the editor:
Ms. Barbara Cox’s recent letter shows a naivete on Iraq and more particularly the U.S. Social Security Trust Fund that is very disturbing.
If migrant workers pay into the trust fund, then they are registered with a Social Security number and deserve benefits. On the other hand, if they are illegals who are disobeying our laws, they deserve nothing.
As a matter of fact, unless fixes are made to the trust fund such as cutting benefits, raising the retirement age and increasing the payroll taxes on the “legals” – us – Barbara might find that her share of the fund went south of the border.
