Reader calls out ‘deranged right-wingers’ who disagree with him

Letters+to+the+editor

To the editor:

This letter goes out to  Green Park Ward 1 Alderman Michael Broughton via the Call to express my appreciation for his comments regarding President Donald Trump in the April 12 letter, “Green Park alderman offers suggestions for Trump military parade.”

They are both humorous and insightful, as well as offering a realistic view of the current state of mind of our president and the Republican party as a whole.

These are the people who are deranged, as it does not take much research to evaluate the history of Mr. Trump and the lies, deceitful business practices, racism, treatment of women and narcissism  that have followed him throughout his life.

He represents everything that is wrong with this country, and why people continue to support him baffles me.

The only answer I can come up with is that they must agree with him and are OK with the name-calling, the hiding behind crooked lawyers and the total disregard for the truth.

All politicians make fake promises and lie, but Trump has taken it to a whole other level.

Thanks for the letters, Michael, a few of us deranged liberals and independent thinkers like them.

I also have a couple of other comments regarding recent letters.

In response to Jim Stinebaker’s April 19 letter, “Arming teachers, school staff Trump’s ‘latest excellent idea,’” do you really believe that the Parkland shooting would have been prevented by a sign?

The issue is too many guns in the hands of the wrong people.

This Cruz kid was deranged and should never have had the right to own a gun.

This is not a violation of the Second Amendment.

Sane people with the proper background checks should have the right to own a gun. It’s only the deranged that believe that everyone should have that right regardless of their mental state.

And as far as forcing teachers to carry weapons, consider this, when you joined the police academy, part of the job was to carry a weapon.

That is not in the job description of a teacher. Consider their rights not to carry a weapon because of their personal beliefs, as recent surveys show that most teachers do not want to carry a weapon.

A little research reveals that there are more guns than people in this country, that we have the highest rate of gun-related deaths of any other civilized country in the world, and that when you have a high concentration of guns you have a higher level of gun-related deaths, according to a study by Harvard University.

I am not trying to abolish the Second Amendment as the NRA and the gun manufacturers are shouting, just asking for responsible gun ownership and cooperation among all law enforcement to recognize problem kids like Cruz and ensure he can never legally own a gun and gets the proper mental-health treatment he desperately needed.

Can’t wait to see the responses to this letter.

Have at it, deranged right-wingers.
