The St. Louis County Police Department investigators are searching for several memorial plaques stolen from Jefferson Barracks Park Monday.
According to a press release, the plaques were stolen from the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater and include insignia logo plaques for the Army and Marines, a memorial plaque dedicated to the employees of Wagner Electric who died in World War II and a bench plaque dedicated to veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.
A Facebook post from the county police department states that around 11:17 a.m. Aug. 14, officers from the South County Precinct responded to a request for service in the 500 block of Grant Road for a report of vandalism. Upon arrival, park personnel told officers that the memorial plaques had been taken overnight at an unknown time. There was no additional vandalism or damage found at the park.
The investigation is ongoing. Police do not have anyone in custody and there is no subject information. Anyone with information should call the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.
