Obituary For Marinda A Ferrell

Marinda Annis Ferrell died June 30, 2021 in St. Louis. Marinda, born Jan. 4, 1949, lived a fulfilling life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family to the moon and back. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and close friends only. Marinda leaves behind her loving husband Charles Ferrell, who she married June 24, 1967, and quickly became a family of five children: Melissa Ferrell-Carrasco, Ronald D. Ferrell, Donald C. Ferrell, Vonzetta Ferrell and Dorothy Ferrell. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her best friend Ruby Faye. Preceding Marinda in death are her parents West Nash Sr. and mother Dorothy Campbell-Upchurch; brother West Nash Jr.; sisters Sylvia Nash and Helen Nash; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Her contributions to many began as an educator in the states of Missouri, Illinois, California and Arizona. She was an inspirational speaker, lifetime teacher and certified teacher in social science. She held two masters degrees, one in social science from Webster University and the other in human resources development, as well as a Bachelor of Science in administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Marinda professed her religion at 7-years-old and was baptized at 9-years-old in the Kaskaskia River, and gave her life to Jesus. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. A memorial service was held Thursday, July 8 at Fey Funeral Home. Help her mindness, generosity and loving heart by making a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or the American Cancer Society. She always said she wanted her flowers while she was alive, so please only send potted plants which represent life.
