Obituary For Eileen A Corbett (nee Burns)

Eileen Ann Corbett (nee Burns), 85, died Feb. 4. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her larger than life personality and quick wit kept everyone on their toes. She loved everything baseball, Irish and country western music. Born and raised in upstate New York, she was a devout Catholic and her zest for life was contagious. She found joy in all the families she babysat for over the years in the Oakville community. She treated them all like her own and impacted their lives immensely. Eileen was born December 5, 1936, the second daughter to James J. Burns and Lorena Kirk Burns in Rome, New York. Her beloved sister, Mary Kay, was a steadfast companion and best friend. Eileen married Stanley A. Corbett in 1968. In 1970, a transfer led them to Prairie Village, Kansas until 1978 when they moved to Oakville. Eileen’s last 3.5 years were spent in Joplin and final days in Waterloo. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, James J. (1967) and Lorena Kirk Burns (1987), spouse Stanley A. Corbett (2018), sister Mary Katherine Hubbard (2019), and her 4-year old granddaughter Layla Rose Miller (2014). She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Immekus (Jason), and Colleen Miller (Michael); grandchildren Cassandra Eileen Chandler, Kirk Chandler, Beau Miller and much loved extended family that all carry her same love of life and laughter.
