Obituary For Arthur W Hartmann
Arthur W. Art Hartmann died March 16 at age 102, when he went to be with his late wife of 66 years, Helen (nee Mutzu). Mr. Hartmann was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Hartmann (nee Lobig); brother of the late Emma DeGroot, Frieda Maloney, Frank and Oscar Hartmann; and father of Charles Hartmann (the late Jackie, nee Jackson) and Jack and Ellen Hartmann (and the late Carol, nee Renner). He was the grandfather of Michael and Karen Hartmann, Michelle and DanChambliss, David, Brian and Barbara, Timothy and Amy Hartmann; great-grandfather of Danny, Tim, Corey, Sarah, Brad, Carly, Joey, Maeleah and George; dear uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Hartmann was the founder of Lemay Plumbing Company in 1952 and was involved in many civic activities. He was a member of Scouting for 60-plus years and was a Scout Master,Merit Badge Counselor,an Eagle Scout,Order of the Arrow and Silver Beaver Recipient. He also served as an umpire, referee and coach and served on the PTA, Hancock Board of Education and as a district commissioner. He was a recipientofthe EdgarP.CreceliusAward,an avid Cardinals baseball fan and loved swimming, fishing and all sports. In sports, he was involved in the Lemay Baseball Association asan umpire and the Lemay Optimist League as a referee and sponsored teams in both sports. As a member ofMeals on Wheels, Mr. Hartmanndelivered over 1000 mealsfor many years. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Helen. He was also a member of the Lemay Senior Center and 60-Plus Club. He especially loved a strawberry banana concrete from Ted Drewes.He was loved and will be missed by all. Contributions may be given to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or Lions Eye Foundation of District 26-M2. Services took place at Fey Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Trinity Cemetery.
