An Oakville man was charged Monday for a shooting that occurred over the weekend and left the victim on life support.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office issued charges June 3 against suspect Jeffrey Streib, 36, of the 2100 block of England Town Road, 63129, for first-degree assault and armed criminal action. The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.  Streib is being held on a $200,000 cash-only bond.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call the evening of June 2 in the 2100 block of England Town Road near Cliff Cave Park. Police claim the defendant, who was armed with a handgun – got into an argument with the victim and pointed a gun at the victim’s head. Police allege the defendant took the safety off and fired the firearm. The victim, who is on life support, is not expected to survive.
