Mehlville School District pupils will re-turn to classes Tuesday, Aug. 16, for the 2005-2006 school year, according to a district news release.
The Board of Education voted Nov. 18 to approve the 2005-2006 school year calendar. The last scheduled day of school is Thursday, May 25, 2006. The 2005-2006 calendar will have all students attending school for 175 days.
The first semester will end Thursday, Dec. 22, for the start of winter break and the second semester will begin Tuesday, Jan. 3. Spring break will take place from March 13 to March 17.
Students and staff will observe the traditional holidays of Labor Day, Thanksgiv-ing, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and Memorial Day.
Schools also are closed Friday, April 14, and Monday, April 17, for Easter.
Students also are out of school Sept. 26, Jan. 17, Feb. 17 and March 3 for staff de-velopment workdays and Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 for parent-teacher conferences.
Pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade pupils are off school Nov. 4 and Nov. 18 for parent-teacher conferences.
If school is canceled due to inclement weather, students will make up the first day Friday, May 26. The second day would be made up by eliminating the April 17 Easter holiday. Additional days would be made up starting Tuesday, May 30.
The Board also approved a skeletal calendar for the 2006-2007 school year.
The first day of school would be Aug. 15, 2006, and the last day of school would occur during the week of May 21, 2007.
Winter break would be Dec. 21 through Jan. 1, and spring break is scheduled for the week of March 12 through March 16.
The 2006-2007 school year calendar will be finalized in November 2005.
