Mehlville director earns award from state librarians

Yvonne Morris, director of learning re-source/instruction technology for the Mehl-ville School District, has been selected by the Missouri Association of School Librar-ians as the 2005 Friend of School Librar-ies.

Bernard Middle School librarian Dotty Crinnion nominated Morris for the award.

In announcing the selection, MASL Awards Chairwoman Ruth Husted praised Morris’ exemplary service to the library media specialists and the library media centers in the Mehlville School District.

“We wish to congratulate you on your selection to receive the Friend of School Li-braries Award,” Husted stated. “Please accept my personal congratulations, along with those of the other MASL members, for your accomplishments. It is evident that your sustained efforts to improve library media programs in Mehlville have earned you the respect and admiration of your school district.”

Morris has served as director of learning resources/instructional technology since 1998. She came to the Mehlville School District as a librarian at Margaret Buerkle Junior High in 1992. Morris also taught English for the Windsor junior and senior high schools from 1985 to 1992 and taught social studies at St. Charles West High School from 1978 to 1985.

Morris will be recognized by MASL at its spring conference at the Lake of the Ozarks Sunday, April 3.
