The Mehlville Board of Education approved the school district’s 2024-25 classified employee salary schedule at its April 25 meeting by a vote of 6-0.
The approved schedule is 3.7% added overall to classified salaries – $680,000 to classified salaries and $523,000 for the cost of advancing in the steps, for a total of $1.2 million invested in classified salaries district-wide.
Individual salary increases will vary depending on what step of the salary schedule the employee is on, said Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Shannon Pike.
Pike added that, as a retention strategy, employees will receive a larger pay increase every fifth step in a particular salary schedule.
“It will maintain the competitiveness of classified salaries to recruit and retain the high-quality support staff,” Pike said. “This includes our bus drivers, custodians, office personnel staff, technology staff, school food technicians and other non-certificated hourly employees.”
Classified salary schedules are reviewed on an annual basis, and next year’s schedules were determined using data from surrounding school districts and information from department directors from industries even outside of education.
