Jan. 15 UPDATE: Police released the name of the driver.

A driver was killed after he hit another car on Lemay Ferry Road Sunday morning, but the driver of the other car came away with only minor injuries, police said.

Police identified the man as David Thompson, 25, of the 100 block of Arbor View Drive in Villa Ridge, 63089.

Police responded to the scene of the two-car crash at Lemay Ferry and Baumgartner roads around 10:23 a.m. Sunday.

The only two people involved were the drivers of the cars, police said.

Thompson was driving north on Lemay Ferry Road when he hit the other man, who was driving through the intersection at Baumgartner and Lemay Ferry in a Jeep.

Thompson was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.

The Jeep driver was also taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The incident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and Accident Reconstruction Unit.
