To celebrate the grand opening of its new 626-seat Jubel Center for the Arts, Lutheran South High School, 9515 Tesson Ferry Road, is hosting “Lusopaloozo” on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
“We broke ground in May of 2023, so our current freshmen and sophomores have only known our campus under construction,” Lutheran South Head of School Jonathan Butterfield said. “They have never actually walked in the front doors of our school building, so we’re pretty excited to show them how amazing the new part of our school is.”
The event – featuring music by the alumni band “The Rock” and Ariel McMahon – will be led by Adam Countryman, Musical Director for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) National Youth Gathering. The Lutheran South pep band, concert choir and “surprise guests” will also make appearances.
“Our alumni who are in the music industry contacted us to see if they could spearhead a show, a big grand opening. It’s going to be pretty spectacular,” Butterfield said. “(They) do this for a living across the country at really significant events.”
Tickets for Lusopalooza are $25 before Feb. 1, and $30 after. To purchase tickets, visit https://bit.ly/Lusopaloozo.
“It’s a celebration for our community,” Butterfield said. “This only happens because of the excitement of our donors and the families who are choosing to enroll here. It just shows that there’s a lot of life and progress in this part of the county.”
