Jim and Melitta Luca celebrated 65 years of marriage in Cancun, Mexico, with a vacation from May 6-13. Their anniversary is May 10.
James Joseph Luca and the former Melitta Christina Bauernschmidt were married at St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich, Connecticut May 10, 1958, by Fr. Edmund O’Connell.
Mr. Luca is retired from Monsanto, where he worked for 21 years. Mrs. Luca is retired from Jefferson College, where she worked for three years.
They are the parents of six: Jeffery, 63, of Aiea, Hawaii; Jamie Bennett, 61, of Greensboro, Georgia; Jim Jr., 59, of Berkely, Michigan; Julianna Kochanski, 55, of Henderson, Nevada; Jeanne Gates, 52, of Lady’s Island, South Carolina; and Jonathan, 51, of St. Augstine, Florida.
The couple has 21 grandchildren. A 13th great-grandchild is due in June.
