To the Editor:
Theiss, Juengel, Flori, VonTalge and Eime are familiar street names in South County, but they also represent a rich history that is being honored and renewed with Lindbergh’s Prop R bond issue on the April 2 ballot. You see, these are the names of my great-grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles – generations who farmed the land where we now live, shop and go to school.
Next month, Lindbergh Schools will ask voters to support Prop R, a no-tax-rate-increase bond issue, that will provide necessary safety and structural updates to schools across the district, and also support the construction of a PK-12 agricultural STEM learning center on the site of the historic Concord Farmers Club.
I am a reading specialist at Dressel Elementary School, and my family is very excited about this project because we believe it honors our ancestors. We want to thank Lindbergh for remembering those who worked hard to establish Concord Village. My father would be thrilled to know that Lindbergh will continue honoring the Farmers Club’s original mission: “The object shall be mutual benevolence and the improvement of its members in everything pertaining to agriculture, horticulture, and domestic economy.”
Please vote yes on April 2!
