Lindbergh retired educators award two scholarships

The Lindbergh Retired Educators Association awarded scholarships to two Lindbergh High School seniors.

The organization presents scholarships to Lindbergh students who have exhibited responsibility, leadership and academic excellence, according to a news release.

A $1,000 scholarship was presented to Marino Marin. Marin, a gifted musician, athlete and member of the Spanish Honor Society, strived for excellence throughout his high school years. His many achievements included receiving an International Baccalaureate Diploma and being named a National Merit Semi-Finalist.

A $1,000 dollar scholarship also was presented to MacKenzie Hempe. Hempe participated in RAD, Venture Crew, LHS Interact, National Honor Society, Character Council, DECA and Principal’s Council. Hempe won many awards for her outstanding leadership and academic performance, including an International Baccalaureate Diploma. She was a National Merit Commended Scholar and a Harvard Book Award winner.

Marin and Hempe were recognized at the Lindbergh Retired Educators April Banquet. Scholarships were presented to both students at the Senior Awards ceremony the organization’s co-presidents, Vicki Stoll and Marietta Schwalbe.
