Lindbergh Schools once again earned the “Triple Crown” of national academic honors, while the Character Education Partnership has named four more Mehlville School District schools as National Schools of Character.
Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report and the Washington Post all rank Lindbergh High School on their 2013 lists of America’s best high schools in the country.
In 2012, Lindbergh High School also was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School for academic excellence, following Missouri Gold Star and National School of Character accolades in 2011.
Lindbergh’s national rankings are:
No. 4 in Missouri, No. 334 nationwide — Newsweek’s “America’s Best High Schools.”
No. 7 in Missouri, No. 776 nationwide, Silver Medal of Distinction — U.S. News and World Report’s “Best High Schools.”
No. 6 in Missouri, No. 1,925 nationwide — the Washington Post’s “High School Challenge.”
The Character Education Partnership has named four more Mehlville School District schools as National Schools of Character — Beasley Elementary, Bierbaum Elementary, Hagemann Elementary and Mehlville Senior High School.
A fifth Mehlville school, Trautwein Elementary, was honored as a National School of Character last year.
National Schools of Character are schools and districts that have demonstrated through a rigorous evaluation process that character development has had a positive impact on academics, student behavior and school climate. They now are expected to serve as models for other schools, helping them to achieve the same results. They will enjoy the distinction of a National School of Character for five years.
Several other Mehlville District schools previously have been honored as State Schools of Character. Those schools are Blades Elementary, Oakville Elementary, Point Elementary, Rogers Elementary and Bernard Middle School. State Schools of Character are selected for having reached a standard of excellence in the area of character development. Schools chosen as Missouri Schools of Character hold that designation for three years.
