Lindbergh High School students will begin to attend in-person class four days a week instead of the current two days a week of in-person learning with three days of virtual learning.

Superintendent Tony Lake announced Tuesday that high school students will transition to in-person four days a week, starting Tuesday, Feb. 9. Mondays will remain at-home learning days, with students attending class in person Tuesdays through Fridays.

Students enrolled in Accelerated Remote Courses, or ARC,  Lindbergh’s 100-percent at-home learning program, will remain virtual.

The decision to bring back Lindbergh High School students to four days a week of in-person instruction comes less than a week after Lake announced that middle school students would return to four days of in-person learning Feb. 2.

The district said in an email to parents that the decision to bring back high school students was based on low positivity rates of COVID-19 among students and declining cases in the community — the same factors that influenced the district to bring back middle schoolers.

Teachers will use Monday, Feb. 8 to prepare for the transition to what the Lindbergh Green Light Plan calls “Phase 1,” meaning that there will be no live virtual instruction that day. On Tuesday, Feb. 9, all students will attend odd-numbered classes in person and even-numbered classes in person Wednesday, Feb. 10.

All students will attend all seven classes, including those who are in virtual, at-home learning through ARC. Those students will Zoom in to the in-person classes.

There will be no school Friday, Feb. 12 for early childhood through high school due to a professional learning day, and there will be no school Monday, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day.

All other Mondays after Presidents Day, students will participate in at-home learning. Class will begin at 11:40 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. The day of off-campus learning allows for dedicated time to contract trace.

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 16, students will attend class in person Tuesdays through Fridays starting at 7:25 a.m. and dismissing at 2:25 p.m. ARC students will adhere to the same start and end times.

The district will use seating charts to reduce students’ number of contacts in a day, and staff and students will continue to be required to wear face masks while in school and on the bus.

Students and staff are asked to complete a health screening before coming to school in person each day, to assure that individuals have not experienced any of the following symptoms in the last 14 days:

A fever (100.4 or higher)

Sore throat

Congestion/runny nose

Headache

Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea

Body aches

Cough

Difficulty breathing

Loss of taste and/or smell

If they or a close contact have been diagnosed or presumed positive with COVID-19.
