To the editor:
The work we’ve seen happening around our schools to make the buildings and parking lots safer for students and faculty should be a huge point of pride for this community. But, as every homeowner knows, building it is only the first part of the work. Properties require ongoing work to maintain them and keep systems operational — HVAC, plumbing, roofs, tuckpointing, etc.
Proposition A will allow Mehlville to fund ongoing maintenance to schools without raising taxes. By diverting some funds that have been used to pay down debt, and by making a 2016 tax levy set to expire permanently, Prop A will add money to Mehlville School District’s operating budget to help maintain the 19 school buildings in the district at no additional cost to taxpayers.
Please vote yes on Prop A.
