A juvenile suspect was seriously injured Monday after allegedly trying to shoplift from the Gravois Bluffs Walmart.
Police received a call for shoplifting about 12:13 p.m. Monday at the Gravois Bluffs Walmart in Fenton, 653 Gravois Bluffs Blvd.
A citizen told police that a suspect had tried to steal an entire cart full of electronics from the store. An employee confronted the suspect, who left the merchandise and left Walmart.
Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Fenton Precinct searched an area southwest of the Walmart and found the suspect, who police said was 14 years old.
Police said the 14-year-old did not “comply with verbal direction” and took off on foot through a wooded area behind the neighboring businesses that line the 600 block of Gravois Bluffs.
The suspect “continued to flee,” police said, and jumped another fence and fell down a bluff to the ground below.
The juvenile was taken to a local hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Citizens that might have information on the incident should contact the City of Fenton Precinct at 636-349-8120 to speak to an officer.
