The Historic Sappington House is hosting a gingerbread house demonstration on Nov. 13 at The Barn restaurant, 1015 Sappington Road, at 6:30 p.m.
Chef Bernard DeCoster – a native of Lyon, France, trained in classical French cuisine – will be in attendance, demonstrating how he bakes, builds and decorates gingerbread houses.
Last year, DeCoster created a gingerbread house replica of the 1808 brick Sappington House, built during Thomas Jefferson’s presidency. The model of the Sappington House included its outbuildings, picket fences and stone sidewalks.
The event is open for a maximum of 15 attendees, and reservations are required. Call 314-822-8171 to make a reservation. Admission is $5.
Following the demonstration event, the Historic Sappington House will accept gingerbread house submissions between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6. Selected gingerbread houses will be on display between Dec. 7 and Dec. 22.
For more information and/or to express interest in submitting a gingerbread house, call Sally Cakouros at 314-822-8171 or email sallyc@HistoricSappingtonHouse.org.
All skill levels are accepted.
