St. Anthony’s Medical Center will sponsor a free Health and Fitness Day for senior citizens Wednesday, June 4, featuring educational lectures, demonstrations, screenings, and booths on a variety of health-related topics relevant to older adults.
The Health and Fitness Day for seniors will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Hyland Education and Training Center, 10020 Kennerly Road.
Keynote speaker Deni Levick, St. An-thony’s director of therapy services, will present “A Balanced Approach to Aging” from 9 to 10 a.m.
Three breakout sessions will be offered from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and again from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Other highlights of the Health and Fit-ness Day include chair massage and vision and hearing screenings. Screenings for blood pressure and cholesterol also will be offered. The test for total cholesterol costs $10 and requires no fasting.
Information will be available about CLAIM, which offers health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries; AARP, the American Association of Re-tired Persons; the Arthritis Foundation; and St. Anthony’s Sleep Lab.
A dietitian from St. Anthony’s Nutrition Services will offer information on healthy eating.
A light lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free, but preregistration is required. To register, call 1-800-554-9550.
