Thanks to the proficiency of Green Park officials — City Administrator/City Clerk Zella Pope and Deputy City Clerk Diane DeLonjay — and the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, a dangerous situation was averted two days before St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church’s annual picnic.
Somehow, the concrete top of a sewer at the driveway adjacent to the church was damaged, with reinforcing bars projecting up and the opposite side tilted 4 inches above the sidewalk.
The sewer top was replaced within a 24-hour period.
