To the editor:
Aesop’s Fable “The Grasshopper and the Ant” reminds me of those misguided people who support St. Louis city merging with St. Louis County.
In the fable, the ant — St. Louis County — worked hard all year round to make sure he had plenty of food and a warm place for the winter. The grasshopper — St. Louis city — just played around all year, doing nothing. When winter came, the grasshopper was hungry and cold, and begged the ant to let him come in — just like the city wants to come into our house.
City Hall in St. Louis is a mess. The mayor is lost in space. City aldermen honored a drug dealer, the circuit attorney does not support the police and St. Louis city is No. 1 in crime.
Is that what these shortsighted citizens want in their house? Not mine.
