A man suspected of driving drunk and crashing his own car was charged with carjacking a Good Samaritan at gunpoint along Interstate 44 in Sunset Hills.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Anthony R. Tisdale, 24, of the 500 block of Spartan Street, Villa Ridge, with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action Friday for the Thursday carjacking. Cash-only bond for Tisdale was set at $100,000. No mug shot is available.

The Sunset Hills Police Department says Tisdale was in a rollover car crash on the ramp from Interstate 270 South to Interstate 44 West about 11 p.m. Thursday.

When a passing motorist, only named in court records as D.S., stopped to help, the driver of the crashed car — Tisdale — took out a handgun and stole the Good Samaritan’s 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, then took off down the interstate.

Soon after, Tisdale crashed that car too, landing with another rollover crash on 44 West at Antire Road.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol officer arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving.

No one was injured during the carjacking, but Tisdale had multiple injuries from his two car crashes. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was arrested by an officer from the Sunset Hills Police Department.
