Drawings for the Mehlville School District’s districtwide auditorium that will be constructed on the Mehlville Senior High School campus were unveiled at the Board of Education meeting last night — March 15.
The auditorium is projected to have 545 seats, 20 more than originally proposed.
Superintendent Eric Knost said some consideration initially was given to putting concessions in the auditorium lobby. However, because the auditorium is close to the commons area, that idea was rejected.
The superintendent said he already has received requests to use the lobby as an art gallery.
“That’s another reason I wanted to keep concessions out of that area,” he said.
Knost said he still intends to keep costs at or under the $6 million cap set by the board when the auditorium construction was approved, and plans could change as items are adjusted to accommodate the budget.
