Police are classifying the death of a man found on a porch in Affton as a homicide.

Officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct of the St. Louis County Police Department responded to a call for a “person down” around 12:49 p.m. Tuesday in the 7900 block of Hildesheim Avenue in Affton.

A man in his early 40s was lying on the porch of the house unresponsive and “suffered from apparent physical injury,” police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene soon after.

Police did not release a cause of death.

The investigation by the department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is “very active” at this time, the department said.
