Crestwood’s second-quarter expenditures exceed revenues

Crestwood’s total second-quarter expenditures exceeded revenues across the city’s three major funds by more than $351,000, according to a recent financial report.

The city brought in $3,231,067 in combined revenues from its general, capital improvement and park and stormwater funds during the second quarter of 2009.

However, combined expenditures from those funds totaled $3,582,645, creating a deficit of $351,578.

The second quarter ran from April 1 to June 30.

During that time period, the general fund brought in $2,266,598 with expenditures totaling $2,550,951, a deficit of $284,353.

The city’s capital improvement fund revenues were reported as $360,509 with expenditures totaling $718,742, a deficit of $358,233.

The park and stormwater fund netted $603,960 in revenues during the second quarter with $312,952 in expenditures, a surplus of $291,008.

Year-to-date totals are as follows:

• General fund revenues so far total $4,793,078, about 55 percent of the $8,687,805 expected for 2009. Expenditures are $4,782,689, or about 50 percent of the $9,467,975 budgeted.

• The capital improvement fund has brought in $786,378, which is about 34 percent of the $2,310,976 expected. Expenditures are listed as $799,980, about 32 percent of the budgeted $2,513,892.

• Park and stormwater revenues so far total $1,074,738, about 55 percent of the $1,936,700 budgeted for 2009. Expenditures total $1,459,013, or about 60 percent of the budgeted $2,403,055.

So far this year, the city has brought in a total of $6,654,194 and spent $7,041,682 across the three funds, which leaves a deficit of $387,488.
