County hosting open houses on proposed Manchester annexation

County hosting open houses on proposed Manchester annexation

St. Louis County will host two educational open houses for residents on the proposed Manchester annexation.

The City of Manchester is proposing to annex a portion of unincorporated St. Louis County bounded by Manchester, Barrett Station and Carman roads. Voters in Manchester and the proposed annexation area will vote on the proposal in November. Manchester previously tried to annex this area in 2004 but that proposal failed.

The open house events are Thursday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 7, both at Queen Park inside the Greensfelder Recreation Complex, 550 Weidman Road, 63011. Residents can stop the open houses anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. Residents will be able to talk with county department representatives about the services the county provides.

In a press release Monday, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page stated he had “concerns” about the proposed annexation.

“I want everyone who could be affected by this proposal to have the opportunity to ask questions and understand what’s at stake before heading to the polls in November,” Page stated.
