Weather permitting, the St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a prescribed burn, also known as a controlled burn, on Feb. 23 at Upper Cliff Cave Park near the parking lot. The fire will begin at approximately 11:00 a.m.
The earthen trail through the burn unit will be closed to the public during the operation. Smoke is expected to disperse over the Mississippi River.
Prescribed burns are done to help restore native habitats, control invasive species and reduce wildfire risk. All plans are subject to change based on weather conditions.
