Consistency is going to be the key to success for the Oakville girls golf team as they begin the 2022 season with a total of nine seniors.
“Things are looking really well,” Oakville head coach Emily Baker said. “We have a lot of returning talent and I think that we can be really competitive this year. This is one of the most talented teams this year, but we’ve got to be consistent.”
Anna Wilson returns for her senior season and will look to improve on her first team all-conference honors during the 2021 campaign.
“Anna is a four-year varsity player that’s come along each year and gotten better and better,” Baker said. “I expect her to be very focused this year and possibly make state.”
Senior Sarah Hinkamp is another first team all-conference selection from last year that could also qualify for the state championships this season.
“Sarah missed the state tournament by just one stroke last year,” Baker said. “She’s looking pretty good and I believe that her experience and knowing the format is going to be her biggest strength this year.”
Avery Bangert was a second team all-conference selection in 2021 and is poised to make some noise on the course this season.
“Avery is a very athletic player,” Baker said. “She’s improved on her game and I think that being a year older is really going to help her this season.”
The Tiger’s head coach is also looking to see a significant impact from seniors Macey Beech, Ashley Larsen, Grace Lickteig, Lexi Pattrin, Marissa Rowley and Shelbie Skidmor.
