The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Oct. 26 against suspect Justin Bradshaw, 34, of the 2900 block of Lemay Ferry Road, for resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, third-degree assault of a special victim and fourth-degree assault.
Bradshaw is being held on $100,000 cash only, no 10%, bond.
The charges are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
According to a probable cause statement, Officer No. 1 was on patrol in the area of South Broadway Avenue and Vincent Avenue on Oct. 26, and observed a silver Pontiac G6 driving on South Broadway Avenue. The license plate on the Pontiac G6 came back to a Chevrolet vehicle, so Officer No. 1 initiated a traffic stop for a license plate violation.
Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, Officer No. 1 recognized Bradshaw as someone who has active felony warrants and is currently wanted.
While speaking with Bradshaw, officers noticed him reaching under the seat he was sitting in multiple times. When officers attempted to place Bradshaw under arrest for the active felony warrants, he began resisting by pulling his arms and body away from officers and by running from officers.
Officer No. 1 and Officer No. 2 caught up to Bradshaw and again tried to place him under arrest. Bradshaw then began fighting with officers, repeatedly grabbing Officer No. 1 fingers, bending them backward towards his wrist causing injury. He also threw himself backwards onto Officer No. 2, pinning him between the ground, causing abrasions to Officer No. 2’s hand, elbow and knee.
A search later located suspected narcotics and three 9mm bullets in Bradshaw’s front pocket. A search of the vehicle located a Hi Point C9 9mm handgun directly below the passenger seat.
The St. Louis County Police Department South County Precinct officers are leading this investigation.
