A body was found Friday morning along the banks of the Mississippi River in Bee Tree Park in Oakville, but the person was not identified even with an autopsy.

James Andrae

A person working along the banks of the Mississippi River at the park in the 8200 block of Fine Road found what they believed to be a body about 10:20 a.m. Friday and contacted the St. Louis County Police Department.

The body is an adult white man, and there were no outward signs of injury, police said.

An autopsy was performed, but authorities could not positively identify the man.

A week before the body was found, police were searching Bee Tree and its surroundings after they found a missing Illinois man’s car abandoned at the park. James Andrae, 49, of Peoria suburb Creve Coeur, Illinois, took off from his home and is considered endangered because he suffers from anxiety and depression but did not take his medication with him. His Jeep Wrangler was found unoccupied at Bee Tree the night of May 8, after he went missing from Creve Coeur, Illinois, the morning of May 7.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crime Against Persons and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting investigations into the matter.

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.

Bodies have previously washed ashore in Bee Tree.

In September 2017, hikers along the Mississippi River found part of a human foot inside a shoe washed up on the shore in the park. In May 2018, the foot was positively identified as belonging to a missing man from St. Louis city.
