Albert F. and Mary Margaret Winkeler of south county celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary June 17 with their children.

Mr. Winkeler and the former Mary Margaret Fletcher were married June 17, 1944, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church by the Rev. John Peters while Mr. Winkeler was on leave from the U.S. Navy after returning home from a 20-month tour of duty with Torpedo Boat Squadron No. 7 in the South Pacific during World War II.

They are the parents of Albert F. (Bonnie) Winkeler Jr., Joseph G. (Jackie) Winkeler III, the late Mary Margaret Winkeler DiMercurio, the late Joseph Winkeler I and the late Joseph Winkeler II.

The couple have 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Winkeler are charter members of St. Timothy Catholic Parish, now St. Mark Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Club, president of the 50-Plus Club and served two terms on the Parish Council. She was a member of the 50-Plus Club, the St. Timothy Kitchen Band as a dancer and a Heavenly Duster.
