A segment of Grimsley Station Road is changing its name to Cliff Cave Road. The ordinance approving this measure passed unanimously and without discussion at the St. Louis County Council’s meeting on Sept. 9.
As such, addresses are changing for property owners from the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance at 400 and 415 Grimsley Station Road; Marian’s Place, LLC at 450, 480 and 481 Grimsley Station Road; and Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. at 401 and 481 Grimsley Station Road. All affected or adjoining property owners have signed a petition form that approves of the street name change.
In a letter to the council discussing the petition, the director of the Department of Transportation and Public Works, Stephanie Leon Streeter, said, “The Grimsley Station Road addresses cause confusion and difficulty in locating the public trail and (the) petitioner’s land.”
The public trail refers to a St. Louis County-owned trail that is accessible from Cliff Cave Park’s parking lot.
Marian’s Place, located within Cliff Cave Park, was the petitioner for this ordinance. Marian’s Place is a nonprofit organization that “offers a serene green-space where nature, wellness and community can thrive.” The organization hopes to provide physical therapy and mental respite to those with dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and other disorders, as well as those people’s caregivers.
The new addresses for the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance will be 825, 826 and 834 Cliff Cave Road; Marian’s Place will now be located at 810, 815 and 820 Cliff Cave Road. Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. will have addresses at 821 and 855 Cliff Cave Road.
St. Louis County owns property at 400 Grimsley Station Road A that will become 814 Cliff Cave Road; the county’s property at 413 Grimsley Station Road will become 835 Cliff Cave Road. A county property at 5972 Bluff Road will become 811 Cliff Cave Road.
