The St. Louis County Board of Elections will open several satellite voting centers for voters to cast their absentee ballots beginning July 21.
The board is operating seven satellite voting centers across the county, up from five during previous elections. Qualified voters can cast their absentee ballots at any of the locations ahead of the Aug. 2 primary. The site at the Board of Election’s headquarters, 725 Northwest Plaza Drive, is already open and the other six will begin operating next Thursday.
In a change from previous years, St. Louis County will not use the South County Government Center as an absentee voting location. Instead, South County voters can cast their absentee ballots at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 11333 St. Johns Church Road.
Other satellite voting sites are located at:
• North County Rec Plex, 2577 Redman Road
• University of Missouri-St. Louis Millennium Student Center, 17 Arnold Grobman Drive
• The Mid-County Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 7821 Maryland Ave.
• St. Louis Community College-Meramec Student Center, 11333 Big Bend Road
• The Daniel Boone Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 300 Clarkson Road
The satellite sites will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until July 29. In addition, extended hours will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23 and July 30, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1.
One of the following reasons must be met to cast an absentee ballot in Missouri:
• Absent from St. Louis County on Election Day
• Incapacitated or confined due to sickness or disability, including caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to sickness or disability
• Restricted by religious belief or practice
• Employed by an election authority
• Incarcerated, although all necessary qualifications for voting have been retained
• A participant in the Missouri Safe at Home program
In addition to the expansion of satellite sites, additional notaries will also be available for anyone who needs their absentee ballot envelope notarized. Each satellite site will have a notary on staff, and a notary is also available at all 21 branches of the St. Louis County Library. Individuals who are voting absentee because of a disability or because they are caring for someone with a disability do not have to notarize their absentee ballot.
