Kevin Abernathy, son of Joe and Jeanne Abernathy of south county, and Taylor Rice, daughter of Jeff and Terri Rice of Colleyville, Texas, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
Rice is a graduate of Grapevine High School. She earned bachelor of arts degrees in psychology and religion in 2015 at Drury University, where they met. She is currently employed by Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Her fiancé, Abernathy, is a graduate of De Smet Jesuit High School. He is a 2015 graduate of Drury University in Springfield, where he earned bachelor of arts degrees in English and writing. He is currently employed by the TEAM Coalition, a nonprofit promoting responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at sports and entertainment facilities, based in Alexandria, Va.
The couple plan an Aug. 6 wedding in Colleyville, Texas.
After a honeymoon in Hawaii, they will reside in Alexandria, Va.
