On Monday, June 2, 20-year-old Deondre Robinson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license.
These charges came after the death of Christopher Johnson and the serious injury of another individual on April 5, 2024. Robinson admitted that, at the time, he had been racing at very high speeds on South Broadway Street in Lemay when he lost control of his vehicle and struck both Johnson and the other victim.
The incident was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jason Glaser served as first chair on the trial team during the plea negotiation.
Sentencing was set for June 12 at 11 a.m. The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has recommended a sentence of 10 years in prison.
