The body of a 79-year-old woman was found in a creek in Crestwood Tuesday near the intersection of Watson Road and Blackthorn Drive.

The Crestwood Police Department believes the death was an accident, and an autopsy is being conducted Wednesday to confirm.

“Everyone involved thinks it was a tragic accident,” Crestwood Police Chief Jonathan Williams told The Call. “It appears she slipped and fell down a stormwater drain.”

The woman’s body was discovered by a pedestrian around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in a spot not visible from the road.

The woman’s identity has not been released to the public. She was a resident of Crestwood.
