Winter weather advisory: Snow, ice expected tonight

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Wednesday due to a round of light snow and ice that is expected to coat the region.

Forecasters expect up to half an inch of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice, with freezing rain starting tonight.

The conditions are expected to cause delays on roads during the morning commute Wednesday throughout east central and southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois.

The NWS urges drivers to slow down and pay attention to conditions, and be prepared for slippery roads. The latest road conditions for each state are available by calling 511.

The counties expected to be affected include St. Louis County, St. Louis city, Jefferson, Madison, St. Charles, Cole, Crawford, Franklin, Gasconade, Iron, Moniteau, Osage, Reynolds, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and Washington.
