Wellspring Family Church in Sappington, 5293 S. Lindbergh Blvd., held a groundbreaking ceremony June 23, to mark the beginning of renovation work on its campus, including facilities for children and the construction of a new sanctuary.

The church plans to raise $1.6 million through donations to fund the renovation project. Per a press release from the church, the main feature of the 43,500-square-foot complex will be a secure wing for children of nursery age through fifth grade. A preschool and a playground are also planned.

The current sanctuary will be turned into a recreational facility for children and youth from sixth to 12th grade.
