Union-endorsed candidates apparent victors for Lindbergh school board

Union-endorsed candidates apparent victors for Lindbergh school board

Four candidates endorsed by the Lindbergh National Education Association appear to be the victors in today’s election for four seats on the Lindbergh Board of Education.

Union-endorsed candidates Matt Alonzo, Cathy Carlock Lorenz and Christy Watz are the apparent winners for three seat-year seats on the board, while union-endorsed candidate Mike Shamia is the apparent victor for a one-year seat.

Unofficial results for the three three-year seats are:

• Lorenz — 6,201

• Kathleen “Kathy” Kienstra — 4,491

• Vicki Lorenz Englund — 4,402

• Christy Watz — 4,642

• Daniel Sampson — 1,703

• Matt Alonzo — 5,329

• Jennifer Bird — 3,375

Unofficial results for the one-year seat are:

• Martha Duchild — 4,250

* Shamia — 6,089

For the Melville Board of Education, Peggy Hassler was the top vote-getter, according to unofficial results:

• Jean Pretto — 8,819

• Samantha Stormer — 9,566

• Hassler — 10,481

• Michelle Pommer — 6,874

Lindbergh Board of Education

Nine candidates, including four backed by the Lindbergh National Education Association, are vying for four seats on the Lindbergh Board of Education.

Three three-year seats are up for election that are currently held by board President Kienstra, Vice President Don Bee and Treasurer Englund.

Also seeking election to the three-year seats are union-endorsed candidates Alonzo, Lorenz and Watz, along with Bird and Sampson. Bee is not seeking re-election.

Union-endorsed candidate Shamia and Martha Duchild are vying for a one-year seat held by Gary Ujka, who is not seeking election.

Mehlville Board of Education

Four candidates, including two incumbents, are seeking three seats on the Mehlville Board of Education in the April 4 election.

Hassler, Pommer, board Vice President Pretto and board President Stormer are vying for the three seats. Board member Venki Palamand did not file for re-election.

Pretty and Stormer first were elected to the school board three years ago.
